Innovative design and cutting edge tech make Giant's Defy 1 an excellent choice for riders who want to go the distance, but don't want to compromise their comfort. Giant's ALUXX SL aluminum frame and Advanced composite fork with an OverDrive steerer let the Defy laugh at the climbs while soaking up road vibration for a super-smooth, refined ride. This rocket is more than just fast though, you'll love the tall head tube and stable geometry that allows for a more comfortable, back-friendly position so you feel great through every mile. This Defy boasts Giant's lightweight P-R2 rims, Shimano's awesome 11-speed 105 drivetrain for crisp shifting, and Tektro brakes for confident stopping. A selection of high-quality Giant components rounds out the build.

Comments:
The geometry of this bike makes it insanely comfortable to ride for long distances or short sprints. It's lightweight and the Shimano 105 is a really nice, crisp setup. The bike is very responsive. It climbs well and will get up and go. I found the seat comfortable. Everything has held up over some rough terrain. Brakes could be a little better but nothing to really complain about.

Great bike. Replaced my 2005 Giant OCR 3 with the Defy 1. A few pounds lighter and the Shimano 105 group is a big improvement over the Shimano Sora group. Test road a few different brands, but came back to the Giant. Sharp looking frame and paint scheme. Feels like a carbon frame; very responsive bike.

Picked this bike up at the beginning of the summer, and have loved every minute of it! Have put close to a thousand kms on it and the bike always performs well! Very happy with the drivetrain setup and frame as a first time buyer of a road bike, would gladly recommend it to anyone looking to enter the sport.
Comments:
Good all around bike. This bike "Rocks" Very light for an aluminum frame. Has a carbon fork and seat post. Some people say the wheels from Giant are heavy, but this is not a race bike!! I'm already over it!! The wheels are fine. Tires are great, good grip and are very resistant to flats. I cannot find any faults on this "mean machine" If you are looking for a first rate bike you cannot go wrong. If you were to upgrade to a carbon bike you will have to down grade from the Shimano 105 group set. Stay with the fine Aluxx SL Aluminum and still pay $500 - $600 more!!

I wanted to correct my previous review to say that I would recommend this bike, I have over six hundred miles without any failures. Handles 270 pounds rims still straight even over some rough terrain.

Compared this bike to a couple other name brands (Trek, Specialized) similar price point. I am 6'6 270 It was more comfortable for me than the others. After over 400 miles it has held up well which was my concern with a road bike. Handles well brakes stop great, the Shimano 105 group live up to the hype.

I just bought this bike yesterday and only have 30 some odd miles on it but I really like it. Flattens hills like I wouldn't have believed and hauls rear down the other side. Shifts effortlessly, smoothly and consistently.
