We purchased two beams last year. The first broke last month but we noticed it while parked and no damage was done. The second broke today while in transit, dragging the bike and doing damage to the rear tire and rim. Luckly, the bike did not fall from the rack and hot the car behind us. I let my daughter know not to use her beam as it could be a hazard to not only her bike but to other cars/families on the road. Please be careful with this product.

Really nice bike rack!

I have had to use this twice already. It's easy to install, and makes mounting my female bike easy as well. Thank you for a great product!
Comments:
The locking system is easy to put in place the bike seat post and my 200mm fork stem and the beam is more solid than the previous model. But sadly is the material of the holding end is soft and easily dented by my bike stem. Good product though

Comments:
After using the Saris Bike Beam one time, the bike seat clamp end wiggled its way out of the dovetail plastic piece that assists the two clamp ends in supporting each other when in the closed position. This meant that the weight of the bike on the seat end was really resting on just one side of the clamp closer end due to the way the clamp positioned itself under the seat. Also, there is a nut that holds the clamp together that put a gouge after only one use in a plastic piece that is under the bike seat. I returned the Saris product to the store and exchanged for the other brand they carry, a Yakima, that has a different design. Haven't tried it yet, but seems like it should fit our setup better.
